Type of Roof: 2-Ply Styrene Butadiene Styrene “SBS” Modified Bitumen
Roof Area: 26,500 sq. ft.
Warranty: 20 Year NDL Labor and Material
The existing roof was completely removed down to the structural deck. Tapered Polyisocyanurate insulation was installed using low-rise foam adhesive to the prepped and tested structural decks. Firestone’s SBS Base Sheet
and White Capsheet were both set in MB Cold Adhesive. The addition of Tan walkway pads were added at the roof access points and across frequently used walking paths.
Challenges:
-
Multiple roof deck elevations with various different structural decks including Tectum and steel. The structural decks were tested prior to installation of new roofing materials and damaged components were replaced accordingly.
-
Engineered and installed new drainage systems on large roof areas where no positive drainage previously existed.
-
National Roofing coordinated with the tenant – whom is a local news broadcasting agency – on a daily basis to ensure roofing operations did not conflict with their broadcasting schedule.
-
Coordinate the upfront efforts of mechanical and electrical contractors to remove abandoned, replace existing and simplify both mechanical and broadcast rooftop equipment.
-
Emphasized and coordinated architectural improvements to the building envelope with roof detailing - edge, facia and copings to unify the look (aesthetic) of the overall complex.
-
Replacement / installation of exterior stair and elevated walkway to access rooftop broadcast platform.
