The History of NRC

   National Roofing was founded in 1977 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tom Johns and his business partner, Peter, had worked for a variety of other roofing contractors and figured they could run a roofing company, if not better, than at least different. None of the other roofing contractors were customer-focused from the outset, and Tom and Peter set out to fill that void. National Roofing was started to raise the bar for customer service, to be responsive and professional, and above all else, to take care of the customer’s waterproofing needs.

   Initially National Roofing provided only residential re-roofs and roofing for large residential apartment projects. This was a ten year long education in controlling costs, training a consistent and competent workforce, and acquiring applicator licenses with the best major roofing material manufacturers. As the company has grown, National has moved to doing complex commercial projects, acquiring a reputation of excellence through work on high profile projects in New Mexico, including, but by no means limited to, the Albuquerque Civic Plaza, UNM Children’s Hospital, Wells Fargo Bank, Presbyterian Hospital and the Bernalillo County Courthouse.

   The future looks bright at National Roofing. We continue to expand our services and the products we offer. We are becoming the pre-eminent installer of photovoltaic systems in the state of New Mexico, we are beginning to cover more and more parts of the building envelope, and plan to continue to this expansion throughout the foreseeable future.
